In our May newsletter, we featured seventy-year-old Dana Delgado in our Member Spotlight and are thrilled to announce that her team took home the gold at the National Senior Games in Albuquerque in June! With over 14,000 athletes competing in various sports competitions, Dana said, “While we had won medals at various state tournaments over the years and at the World Games, this victory was sweet,” Delgado said. “We all worked so hard to prepare. To win the title is so rewarding for all the work.” Through her team’s preparation for the games, Dana had lost 30 pounds and overcame her chronic pain and serious breathing issues.
Dana has peripheral neuropathy that affects her motor and sensory nerves and said, “I have no feeling in either leg and minor feeling in my hands.” Her teammates also live with other major health issues such as Parkinson’s, cancer, brain aneurysms, and heart surgeries.
A big congratulations and thank you to Dana for being an incredible inspiration to us all as we work to find ways to live our best lives! To read the full article about Dana’s Championship, please click here.
