|The ups and downs of life with neuropathy can leave us feeling isolated and alone. That’s where support groups can help. People with neuropathy as well as their family members and caregivers can benefit from support groups. Benefits of participating in a support group may include: knowing that others share similar experiences and feelings, improved coping skills, reduced stress, anxiety and depression, gaining practical advice, and learning about helpful resources both locally and nationally. Enjoy participating as you get to know one another and see how you may be able to help others by listening and offering encouragement.
The facilitator for the support group is Martha (Marty) Meraviglia who is an Advanced Practice Nurse (Clinical Nurse Specialist) caring for people living with chronic conditions including diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases. She is a former Associate Professor of Clinical Nursing at the University of Texas at Austin, School of Nursing, and while in that role, conducted research projects in the areas of health promotion and holistic nursing care for underserved populations. She is also a member of NATX’s board of directors.
Anyone affected by neuropathy is welcome: patients, caregivers, family and friends. We hope to see you there!
